Milk production: leaders and outsiders

During the period January-November 2020, Ukraine produced 8 million 671 tons of milk, which is 4.2% less than in the same period last year.

This was reported by the AMР analytical department with reference to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

«At the same time, 29.2% of the total shaft was produced in the industrial sector. For example, in 2019 it was 27.8%. In physical terms, it amounted to 2 million 531 thousand tons. And despite the challenges this year - drought, high feed costs, problems with government support, the industrial sector was stable in performance, and to be precise, showed an increase of half a percent», - says Yana Muzychenko, an analyst at the Association of Milk Producers.

The leaders in the production of such milk are Poltava region - 361.7 thousand tons (-1.1%), Cherkasy region - 276.7 thousand tons (+ 3.5%) and Kharkiv region, which supplanted Chernihiv region - 226.4 thousand t (-1.8%).  Outsiders are the regions of the Western region - Zakarpattia - 0.7 thousand tons, Chernivtsi - 9.4 thousand tons and Ivano-Frankivsk region - 14 thousand tons.

Households for the analyzed period reduced milk production by almost 6% - up to 6 million 140 thousand tons. The share of such milk in the overall structure in 2020 was 70.8%, and in 2019 - 72.2%.  Most milk is produced in the homestead sector of Vinnytsia - 484.4 thousand tons (-7.6%), Khmelnytsky - 438.9 thousand tons (+ 0.9%) and Lviv - 416.6 thousand tons (-4,  4%).  And the least in Luhansk - 82.3 thousand tons, Donetsk - 92.4 thousand tons and Kyiv region - 143.1 thousand tons.
