Livestock stabilization in the industrial sector: 424.7 thousand cows as of 01.05

As of May 1, 1,669.5 thousand cows are kept in Ukraine, which is 5.8% less than on the corresponding date last year.

This was reported by the analytical department of the Association of Milk Producers.

424.7 thousand cows were concentrated in industrial enterprises. This is 1.3% less than in 2020, but already states the restrained stabilization of the industrial sector in the short term, as of 01.04. this year, industrial dairy farms kept 424.2 thousand cows.


The farms of Ivano-Frankivsk region (4.6 thousand; + 9.5%), Kherson region (6.2 thousand; + 6.9%) and Kyiv region increased compared to the same date last year. 5.5%) .

Instead, the available livestock was reduced the most in Rivne (7.9 thousand; 24.8%), Odessa (6.3 thousand; -17.1%) and Lviv (5.7 thousand; -16.2%) ) areas.


As for the private households sector, following the results of four months of this year, the keeping of cows there decreased by 7.3% against 01.05. last year - up to 1 million 244.8 thousand (as of 01.04.2021 - 1.3 million cows). The largest livestock was sold by private households of Kherson (37.9 thousand; -16.5%) and Zaporizhia (31.1 thousand; -15.5%) regions.
