Kornelis Huizinga is recognized as the 2022 GFN Kleckner Global Farm Leader Award recipient for informing the world community about the war in Ukraine

Congratulations to Kornelis “Kees” Huizinga on getting the GFN Kleckner Global Farm Leader Awar.

With this award, the Global Farmer Network (GFN) recognizes Mr. Huizinga’s unwavering focus on alerting the global community to the war in Ukraine and how this war is impacting the worlds food security today and in the future.

The award has been given annually since 2007 and recognizes farmers who exemplify leadership and strongly defend the rights of farmers to choose technology and tools that improve the quality, quantity and availability of agricultural products worldwide.

In an official statement, the Global Farmer Network (GFN) notes

“Since February 24, 2022, the first day of aggression against Ukraine, Ukrainian farmer Kornelis “Kees” Huizinga, has been providing updates from the ground regarding the realities of war and its impact on Ukraine’s agriculture. An important piece of that message from Kees to fellow farmers, Parliament Leaders and anyone who would listen was to make a clear case for how this aggression was going to severely impact the world’s food security, impacting those most vulnerable first, especially in North Africa and Asia.”

Congratulations!

We are proud, because Kees Huizinga is a member of Association of milk producers of Ukraine, co-owner and director of the innovative dairy farm Kischenzi LLC, which is among the TOP-10 most productive farms of Ukraine and is the base for the Dairy Centre Kischenzi educational platform.

Kees himself says, “My weapon in this war is to reach out to the world through the media and tell them what's going on and why it matters to everyone. Russia is using the world's food supply as a weapon of war, and the world's food security is at risk."

In the video below, he explains what receiving this award means to him.

Together to victory!
