Conditions for effective motivation of staff on the farm. Kateryna Dudka, IFC

According to various estimates, 20 to 50% of productivity in dairy farming does not depend on technology or equipment on farms, but on management - that is, on how staff work. The issue of team motivation is important.

Kateryna Dudka, a farm management consultant for the IFC project "Development of the dairy industry of Ukraine" , talks about the basic conditions for effective motivation.

She notes that, first of all, the farm owner must understand that motivation is not just about bonuses and salaries. Motivation is the creation of such conditions and incentives for staff, under which each team member strives to be the best both professionally and in terms of personal qualities and teamwork.

What are the incentives: working conditions, evaluation and training of staff, activities that unite the team - related to professional and personal increase. When it comes to professionals and middle managers, you should think about how to cultivate their personal qualities needed in this team.

Kateryna Dudka emphasizes that the system of motivation cannot be the same for all farms. It cannot be copied from one team and transferred to another in the same form. Motivation, first of all, depends on the personality of the leader and his management style, on those qualities which the management wants to see in members of the team. However, there are the minimum necessary conditions without which the motivation system will not work.

  • Where to start this work?
  • What are the conditions to ensure that the motivation system is productive?
  • How to motivate and form an effective team that will unite around common values and work for results?

We will talk about this in more detail during the 15th International Dairy Congress on February 28 - March 1 in the report of Kateryna Dudka "Conditions for effective staff motivation: the practice of implementing a comprehensive approach to motivation management (for example, TOV "Krasnogirske", Cherkasy region).

We involve managers and owners of dairy farms in the discussions.
