Georghii Kuhiashvili notes that the prices for most dairy products have remained virtually unchanged over the last month. The pricing policy of retail chains does not encourage Ukrainians to buy more dairy products. Despite the decrease in prices for dairy products and raw milk, retail prices for the end consumer—particularly for butter—remain high. Supermarkets are importing butter and other dairy products from Poland under long-term contracts, creating competition for domestic products on supermarket shelves.

Improving the sales of domestically produced dairy products within the country should be supported by the Government's backing of Draft Law 6068-d on combating unfair trade practices of retail chains and the implementation of protective measures against significantly increasing dairy imports. Counteraction against "grey" dairy imports into Ukraine is necessary. Food for humanitarian kits and other state purposes should be purchased exclusively from domestic producers.
