SSUFSCP - DPSS Warns: Easter Holidays, April-May - Highest Risk Period for Foot-and-Mouth Disease Entering Ukraine

Food products of animal origin are a potential factor in the transmission of foot-and-mouth disease. Therefore, starting from April 16, 2025, a ban has been imposed on the transportation of food products in hand luggage and baggage from Hungary and Slovakia! (Foot-and-mouth disease cases have recently been recorded in these countries).

State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection (SSUFSCP - DPSS) urges citizens not to carry food products of animal origin in their hand luggage from these countries to protect against the introduction of the foot-and-mouth disease virus into our country.

We remind you that foot-and-mouth disease is a viral disease common to humans and animals, leading to the culling of entire livestock populations. Ukraine is currently free from foot-and-mouth disease, but it is being recorded in neighboring countries.
