Operating Under New Veterinary Requirements: Upcoming Trainings in Poltava

On May 5 and 6, the next series of practical training sessions on the responsible use of antibiotics in livestock farming will take place in Poltava. The events are part of the international EpiC project with the participation of the Association of Pig Breeders of Ukraine.

The session on May 5 will be dedicated to cattle producers, followed by a training for pig industry specialists on May 6. The program focuses on the practicalities of operating under new veterinary requirements, which are currently generating a significant number of inquiries from producers.

Specifically, during the sessions, participants will examine:

  • Prescription-based antibiotic use;
  • The role of the licensed veterinarian;
  • Record-keeping and traceability requirements;
  • Action algorithms in the event of animal illness.

Special attention will be given to the practical component: case-study work will allow participants to practice decision-making regarding treatment and the management of antimicrobial use at the farm level.

According to the organizers, the goal of the training is not only to transfer knowledge but also to help producers adapt to the new rules:

"Today, producers have many practical questions regarding new veterinary requirements — from the application of antibiotics to documentation management. That is why we emphasize clarifications and applied solutions that can be implemented directly on the farm."

The training series aims to foster a systemic approach to animal health management and the rational use of antibiotics in accordance with modern industry requirements.
