Representatives of the Association of Milk Producers were in the Chernihiv region yesterday: an AMP member farm is sharing its experience on how to increase efficiency in the extremely difficult conditions of war.
Ponory LLC maintains a herd of over 1,000 cattle, including 605 cows. In 2024, the average daily milk yield per forage cow was 35.7 kg (or 13,066 kg per year), with fat/protein figures of 3.62/3.24. The farm sells up to 22 tonnes of milk every day.
What lies behind these impressive figures? The answer is both simple and complex: vision. Mr. Volodymyr Sysa, the director of Ponory LLC, shared the story of transforming an old, Soviet-era building into a modern, profitable farm. This experience is especially valuable for many Ukrainian dairy farms that are still looking for ways to become more efficient. They proved that you don't have to build from scratch to achieve success. You just need to have a strategy, desire, and perseverance.
The Farm Day was filled with more than just conversations about numbers. The discussions touched on the most pressing topics: the impact of the war on the industry, ways to rebuild it, and European integration prospects. AMP General Director Hanna Lavreniuk presented her vision for the industry's development in the context of European integration, ways to overcome challenges, and how to preserve and increase export potential.
The practical part included master classes on feed procurement, which is critically important for ensuring the health and productivity of the herd. The economics of feeding costs were also discussed.
The story of Ponory LLC is a story about how to turn challenges into opportunities and old assets into valuable ones, all while remaining an industry leader even in the most difficult circumstances.
The Association of Milk Producers thanks you for the invitation and the opportunity to participate in this important dialogue about the development of the agricultural business, because knowledge is like milk—if you keep it, it sours; if you share it, it multiplies!
We express our gratitude to our partner companies for their cooperation and unwavering support in holding the National Farm Days.
Strength is in unity. Together, we are building a strong, innovative, and competitive agriculture sector for Ukraine! Glory to Ukraine!
