Milk production decreased by 4%

During the period January-October this year, Ukraine produced 8 million 23.5 thousand tons of milk, which is 4.1% less than in 2019 - according to the State Statistics Committee.  The share of the industrial sector in the total milk supply is 29%, the remaining 71% is produced by households. According to the Analytical Department of the Association of Milk Producers.

Nevertheless, the expert community of dairy associations emphasizes that official statistics differ significantly from the real situation precisely because of the exaggeration of the share of the homestead sector, and the total shaft of milk production in Ukraine does not exceed 6.2-6.5 million tons.

Analysis of the dynamics by sector shows that industrial farms during this period provided 2.320 million tons of milk, which is almost the same as last year.

Thanks to work on productivity, 8 regions showed an increase in production.  The largest of them increased the production of the economy of Ternopil region - plus 17.6% to 85.7 thousand tons. The production of Volyn region increased by 5.5% - up to 81 thousand tons, and by 4.3% Zhytomyr - 100.8  thousand tons

At the same time, the industrial farms of Zakarpattia (-30%; 0.7 thousand tons), Rivne region (-16%; 46.7 thousand tons) and Luhansk region (-17.2%; 20.2 thousand) reduced production the most. t).

According to the official data of the State Statistics Service, homestead farms for the first ten months of this year produced 5.703 thousand tons of milk, which is 5.8% less than last year.  The increase in production was observed only in Luhansk (+ 2.8%; 78.3 thousand tons) and Khmelnytsky (+ 0.6%; 406.8 thousand tons) oblasts.
