From December 10 to 13, the final meeting of the international SULAWE project participants took place at the Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Applied Sciences (Germany). Alla Naumenko, Head of the Customer Service Department of the Association of Milk Producers (AMP), participated in the event.
During the final meeting, participants summarized the project's implementation results, discussed practical developments, and defined future steps for cooperation. Special attention was paid to the implementation of EU requirements regarding animal welfare during housing, transportation, and slaughter, the adaptation of national legislation to European standards, the introduction of certification systems, and the creation of effective state control mechanisms.
As part of the visit, participants also toured the university's startup campus, where students and young researchers implement their own innovative ideas aimed at solving social and environmental challenges.
A visit to an ostrich farm sparked particular practical interest. The farm owner shared detailed experience in business management and adherence to animal welfare principles throughout the entire production chain. Interestingly, the farmer previously specialized in cattle farming but reoriented toward a niche direction — ostrich breeding — combined with the development of green tourism due to environmental and economic restrictions.
During the discussions, participants addressed opportunities for continued cooperation between educational institutions and the expert community to support Ukrainian livestock and poultry farming in implementing European animal welfare requirements and sustainable agricultural production, as well as further development of international collaboration.
The meeting concluded with a Christmas evening, which brought the project participants together in a warm atmosphere of like-minded colleagues.

During the project's implementation from 2023 to 2025, representatives of the scientific community and the livestock business have the opportunity to adopt the experience of top European universities in training young specialists and improving the qualifications of livestock enterprise professionals.
