Last week, at the invitation of Michael Prinz zu Salm-Salm, founder of Salm-Salm und Partner GmbH, the President of the Association of Milk Producers of Ukraine (AMP), Andrii Dykun, alongside AMP Board Member and CEO of "Kishchentsi" LLC, Kees Huizinga, participated in the German-Ukrainian Agricultural Entrepreneurs Forum in Frankfurt am Main.
During the forum, a dedicated working panel was fully focused on the challenges and prospects of Ukraine's dairy industry, as well as the search for new avenues of cooperation between Ukrainian and German businesses under the framework of Euro-integration.

In his speech, Andriy Dykun emphasized that the widespread perception in Europe regarding the dominance of agricultural holdings in Ukrainian farming does not reflect reality. According to him, approximately 65% of agricultural land in Ukraine is cultivated by medium-sized farms, around 25% by large companies and agro-holdings, and the remainder by smallholders.
He also drew attention to the challenges facing Ukrainian farmers under wartime conditions. Nearly 20% of Ukraine's territory remains occupied, a portion of farms have lost their assets, and farmers in frontline regions continue to operate under the constant threat of shelling and drone attacks.
The AMP President placed particular emphasis on the vital importance of seaports for Ukrainian exports. According to him, even with alternative logistical routes, Ukraine can export only about 2.5 million tons of grain per month by land, whereas the minimum requirement stands at 8 million tons.
The forum participants also discussed the prospects of Euro-integration for the Ukrainian agricultural sector, attracting investments, and developing cooperation between Ukrainian and European agribusinesses.

"Ukrainian and European farmers share significantly more common interests than contradictions. That is why it is crucial to maintain an open dialogue and build a mutually beneficial partnership between Ukraine and the European Union," noted Andriy Dykun.
We continue the advocacy work of the Association of Milk Producers in Europe and represent the position of Ukrainian farmers at the international level.
