Ukraine's dairy industry is transitioning to new standards! Following a successful start in Lviv, the Poltava region took over the baton of educational events. On May 5, specialized trainings were held here, dedicated to the implementation of new veterinary requirements and the responsible use of antimicrobials in livestock farming.
Participants examined key issues: prescription-based use of antibiotics, the role of the licensed veterinarian, requirements for record-keeping and traceability, as well as action algorithms in case of diseases. Special attention was paid to practice — working with cases that are as close as possible to real farm conditions.
Main highlights of the training in Poltava:
- New legislation: how to practically apply updated requirements regarding veterinary prescriptions and the circulation of medicinal products.
- Antibiotic use protocols: how to ensure effective animal treatment while minimizing the risks of antimicrobial resistance.
- Diagnostics and prevention: discussion of methods to reduce the need for antibiotics through improved hygiene and herd management.
- Practical experience: participants had the opportunity to analyze real cases and receive answers to pressing questions from leading industry experts.
The trainings were held within the framework of the international EpiC project with the participation of the Association of Pig Breeders of Ukraine and the involvement of experts from the Advisory Center of the Association of Milk Producers, Valeriy Lototskyi and Mykola Bazavluk.
The second series of trainings in Poltava will take place on June 23.
