Agrarian associations will help the Ministry for Development of Economy Trade and Agriculture to balance the supply and demand of food products

On January 19, 2021, the Ministry for Economic Development chaired by Taras Vysotsky and Director of the Directorate for Food Safety and Quality Mykola Moroz held the first meeting of the interagency working group on compiling national forecast balances of demand and supply of basic food resources.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the State Statistics Committee and relevant agricultural associations.  The Association of Milk Producers was represented by AMP Chief Analyst Volodymyr Andriiets.

"The creation of the working group was initiated on the issue of accuracy of display of statistical data of the main food groups of goods, which are taken into account in the calculations of national balances and are components of food security," said Volodymyr Andriiets.

The Ministry acknowledged that such a problem does exist and launched an active dialogue to develop mechanisms for changes in approaches to the collection, processing and prompt publication of primary data on basic types of agricultural products.

Previously, the associations have repeatedly noted the inconsistency of the display of statistics on milk production, which makes it impossible to adequately calculate the balance of milk and dairy products.
