Maximum practice and desire to come again - the results of the course for orthopedists from СC AMР and IFC

The condition of the musculoskeletal system, in particular hooves, directly affects the productivity of animals. Therefore, the new practical course of the training platform Dairy Center Kischnzi was devoted to advanced training of operators for clearing hooves. The training is implemented jointly with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) within the project "Development of the Dairy Industry of Ukraine" with the involvement of experts and trainers from the Consultancy Center of the Association of Milk Producers and IFC.

14 participants from different regions of Ukraine took part in the practical classes and listened to lectures.

During the theoretical intensive, AMР and IFC lecturers conducted an active dialogue with the participants and identified the most pressing issues of hoof disease and their causes.

The two-day practical block of the course was held at the Dairy Center Kischenzi on the farm of Kischenzi LLC, which is a member of AMР, a leader in the dairy industry and an example of the introduction of the latest technologies. Participants practiced clearing hooves, bandaging, and gluing of hoof pads. Experts dealt with each participant individually, so they were able to identify what mistakes are most often made by specialists. During the practical training, it was possible to observe how stress-free separation from the group affects the behavior of cows during the clearing of hooves.

Evaluating the learning outcomes, all its participants noted the most practical direction of the training.

Upon completion of the course, each participant passed the certification to analyze the level of knowledge gained and correct mistakes, as well as received a certificate of advanced training.

It will be recalled that the next training course from AMР and IFC will take place on November 4-6 - "The milk economy begins in the field."  Among the main topics: fodder strategy of cattle breeding; indicators of feed quality and safety;  features of growing fodder crops, etc. Read more here.

Feedback from course participants:

Mykola Dobrych, hoof cleaning specialist, Molochni Rikу LLC, Lviv Region

“The course is especially valuable due to the possibility of practical training. He personally singled out the issue of dermatitis treatment: the experts shared their experience and showed by examples how best to deal with this problem. COVID is not an obstacle. If the motivation is real learning, new acquaintances and information - it's worth it."

Chуkun Serhiі, specialist in clearing hooves, Svitanok LLC, Kherson Region

“For two days we practically worked with AMР and IFC experts. On their advice, we are already buying bandages and foot pads. The topic of antibiotics and proper work with them was relevant.  We have already put the recommendations into practice."

Chopenko Yuriі, specialist in clearing hooves, Prydniprovske LLC, Kherson Region

"It is appropriate to repeat the anatomy and physiology of the hooves with Volodymyr Andriіets, because it is important to remember the basics. The most interesting was the application of hoof pads in particular, and clearing in general.  We will definitely use the acquired knowledge on the farm.  We are already buying a disc for the Bulgarian, pads and glue. We will update the knives."

Andrii Popov, IFC Livestock and Comfort Management Expert, International Finance Corporation (IFC)

"The uniqueness of this course is a professionally trained practical part, during which we managed to cover various factors affecting the health of hooves in terms of fattening and comfort.  Participants were provided with all necessary training materials. The course was informative.  It is noticeable that the Association of Milk Producers works in a team. It was nice to feel part of this team!”

Anatolіі Shуsh, IFC Livestock Management and Comfort Management Expert, International Finance Corporation (IFC)

«Practical training is a powerful part of the course. The training took place in a small group, which gave the opportunity to effectively absorb what was heard and seen.  Practical and theoretical material was covered and presented to the maximum. Such training must be conducted. We were glad to meet specialists from different parts of Ukraine, hear their achievements and problems, share experiences and get advice»
