Second Stage of Practical Trainings on Antibiotic Use Control Concluded

On June 25, Kyiv hosted the second stage of the practical training sessions "Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control" (EpiC). The event took place within the framework of the international EpiC project, with the participation of the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders and the involvement of Mykola Bazavluk and Valeriy Lototskyi, experts from the Milk Producers Association’s Advisory Center, alongside Vitaliy Bashynskyi, an international expert on animal health, veterinary medicine, and food safety.

The training sessions were dedicated to implementing practical approaches to animal health management and the responsible use of antibiotics on farms.

During the workshops, participants analyzed the results of their home assignments, discussed their experiences in implementing changes on their own farms, and reviewed tools that help reduce the need for antibiotic treatments.

Dedicated sessions focused on record-keeping for veterinary drug usage, disease prevention, biosecurity, and vaccination. The practical segment involved teamwork on real-world production case studies, where participants developed response algorithms for disease outbreaks and action plans for managing antibiotic use on farms.

The training was part of an all-Ukrainian event series under the "Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control" (EpiC) project. The project is funded by the U.S. Department of State and is aimed at implementing the principles of responsible antimicrobial use and the "One Health" approach.

The next stage of the educational program will take place on July 2–3 in Rivne, where training sessions will be held for representatives of local territorial communities. Participants will master practical tools for risk communication, raising awareness about responsible antibiotic use, and combating antimicrobial resistance at the local level.

Participation in the events is free of charge, but seating is limited. Pre-registration is required: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdA7BGpNsp-ln3CJONhxhdijtYe6k6Ab9MPRg06ppHAUenmGw/viewform
