Round Table "Strategy for the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses - Restoring Ukraine's Economy" — AMP Is Among Participants

Olena Zhupinas, Deputy General Director of the Association of Milk Producers of Ukraine, participated in the round table "Strategy for the Development of small and medium-sized business - Restoring Ukraine's Economy," held on July 1, 2024.

During the round table with representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Parliament, business association representatives discussed issues of paramount importance for the functioning of the economy amid current challenges and threats.

According to the second wave of a survey conducted by the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting ("Ukraine: Business Leadership in Post-War Reconstruction"), the top three restraining factors identified by small and medium-sized businesses are:

  • Deterioration of the security situation (25% of respondents cited this factor in April 2024, rising to 52% in June),
  • Rising prices for raw materials/materials/goods (47% of respondents),
  • Shortage of labor due to mobilization/relocation (43%).

Additionally, due to attacks on energy facilities, the relevance of energy supply issues for small and medium-sized enterprises has increased fivefold.

Oleksiy Sobolev, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, noted that the updated version of the "Strategy for the Restoration of Sustainable Development and Digital Transformation of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses until 2027" will be voted on by the Cabinet of Ministers in the coming weeks and presented to the business community in its final version. He also emphasized that the Ministry of Economy expects to bring together all business associations involved in the development of small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) into a single platform by September 2024, entrusting them with a significant portion of the tasks for implementing the mentioned strategy.

AMP's delegate Olena Zhupinas supported the business community representatives' remarks on the necessity of prior discussions with business associations regarding economic and fiscal bills to avoid negative impacts on businesses, as well as the implementation of the Eurointegration initiative on self-regulating organizations.
